So i'm trying to get a straight answer on this because the subject is quite confusing and brokers i've spoken with have given me wildly differing information and quotes and I am wondering if anyone can clear these issues up
I was pretty dumb when I was younger and had multiple accidents driving a car and an impaired charge relating to one accident, all at fault. One was in mid 2008, one in october 2010, and one in september 2011. I pled guilty to impaired jan 20/2012 relating to the sept 2011 accident.
Since then I have not driven. however, I recieved a one year suspension but did not have the money to complete the remedial program and was issued an indefinite suspension jan 20/2013 until I have completed the back on track program. My 3 year abstract shows the suspension for not completing the remedial program on jan 20/2013 which will be cleared from my 3 year abstract by jan 20/2016. I have since completed it and my license was reinstated Nov 25/2014. Therefore when I want to purchase insurance my 3 year abstract will only show a license reinstatement in november 2014.
I was told by a representative at riders plus that the accidents are not relating to a motorcycle accident and would not be factored in. I was also told that after three years the impaired conviction will not affect me as long as it does not show on my abstract (which it does not).
also I am 26 and am just going to buy new vstar 250 in feb or march, I cant imagine anything else being affordable
My questions are:
is it true that these car accidents would not be factored in for motorcycle insurance? or is this only true for certain companies? and if so which companies?
When asked if I have had a license suspension in the last 3 years, are they asking if I have received a new suspension in the last 3 years? or if it was still suspended in the last 3 years?
Do I only need to worry about my three year abstract? Or will they look at my autoplus?
