Have a question and hoping you ladies could possibly help......
I'll preface this by saying I am not TTC nor am I on birth control.
I have taken Metformin on/off for years, but only at 500mg per day. It never did a thing for my cycle. This past January, my doctor decided to increase it to 1000mg per day to see if that would work. My doctor gives me Progesterone and tells me if I haven't had a period by cycle day 35 or so, to take it for 10 days and then stop it to bring on my period. That was always the case. I'd get to 35 days and I would start my Progesterone. In July when I went back to have some routine labs drawn she asked me had the 1000mg worked for me. I told her no, and she decided to increase the Metformin to 1500mg per day. I started it and had a period within just a few days of doing so. No Progesterone needed. I've continued with my 1500mg/day since and the next cycle was 25 days. Started on my own. I was getting really excited about the prospect of FINALLY having periods on my own when I reach cycle day 17 this month and I started spotting. It started off light, but by the next day (CD18) I had to wear a pad..it's not a full on period, but it is enough of a very light pink flow that I need to wear something. Yesterday it was a little lighter, I could get away with a panty liner, but today (CD20) I am back needing a pad again.
If you made it through all of that, bless you. My question is this - does it seem like something could be wrong that I might need to see my doctor about OR could it just be my body (that has NEVER had regular periods in 29 years) getting regulated? I certainly don't want to have cycles that close together....talk about one extreme to the next!
