Looking for advice. Constant pain, mirena, and more.

Hi guys, I'm at my total wits end with this, and am looking for any explaination that could help me.

ive always had crazy irregular periods. Because of this, went on bcp when I was 16. My doctor also looked into PCOS at that time, as I have a strong family history, a cyst very nearly killed my mom, but after an ultrasound, said I had no cysts and if I wanted to pursue it more, to go see and endocrinologist. I'd always had weight problems as well so We did and I was told nothing was wrong with me. So I stayed on the bcp's until I was set to get married a few years later. The pills never stopped me from ovulating but kept me regular so I always stayed on them. Well obviously that wouldn't work out to well for actual birth control. My GP wanted me to go see and gyno who put me on nuvaring. That worked for a few months and then I was ovulating again. She put me on a pill that didn't work. Then another pill. Then another. Nothing was working and I didn't like that gyno. Very condescending. So I went to a new one last year. She suggested mirena. Not my first choice, but I decided to try it. After getting it, I rapidly gained 20lbs. I also started having terrible ovarian pain. I went to the doctor 9 months later and told her I wanted it out. She didn't want to take it out, saying it doesnt cause weight gain or cysts. (Funny how bayer themselves list that as a side effect though...) she wanted to test my thyroid and for PCOS. Thyroid was fine but she diagnosed me with PCOS and insulin resistance. After all those years trying to tell doctors I had it! I started metformin and love it.

now, my ovarian pain has continued and has gotten worse and worse. Especially on my right side. My doctor told me it's probably ovulation pain, since there are no organs to cushion the right ovary. But if it lasted longer than two weeks to call for an ultrasound.

There is never any rhyme or reason to timing of the pain. But it lasts for at least three weeks, sometimes I'll get a week or two reprieve. Let me be clear when I describe the pain-- there have been days i can't get out of bed. It feels like someone is taking a fork, Stabbing me, and twisting. Then like someone is squeezing with all their might. My left ovary has pain as well, but not as bad. More like little zaps and pinches. So I finally call for an ultrasound. Convinced I have something massive in there.

There were no cysts. So my doctor tells me it must be a GI problem. Really, after you told me there are no organs by that ovary??? The only thing is that my ovarian measurements are rather large, and I know that can indicate endometriosis. But that can sometimes be seen on unltrasoung, no?

Anyway, I have come to the conclusion I just want this mirena OUT. My symptoms and pain got so much worse when I got it.

Has as anyone else experienced anything similar with mirena? Or even cyst like pain but no cysts? Tia.
