Constant Nausea & Sickness not pregnant

Hi everyone

Urgh for the last couple of cycles after what I think is ovulation I'm getting two weeks of nausea and vomiting all day and night. My last blood test said that my progesterone was too low to sustain a pregnancy plus i did a test and it was negative. Is anyone else going through this I feel terrible and miserable at the moment.

I've got my cycles to an average of 31 days which i'm over the moon about but this new PMS symptom is driving me nutty.

PCOS, Hashimoto's disease, and thyroid cancer - my story

Hi all!

First off, I don't post here much but this has been a place I have come to time and time again to look up information for years. I really value this message board and all of the wonderful perspectives and experiences here. :)

I was diagnosed with PCOS at age 24, about 4 years ago now (I'm 28), although I had a strong feeling I've had it since I was about 20, but at 24 is the first time I had health insurance so it was confirmed by my primary care physician the first chance I could. I've always struggled with weight and hirsutism. At the time I was diagnosed, I hadn't had a period in a year and a half. As treatment, I was given Apri birth control pills to regulate my period. The pill regulated my period and I shed about 15-20 lbs. I also start working out regularly and eating much healthier. I also started taking a wonderful multivitamin daily with flaxseed oil and vitamin B12. I felt so much better.

Flash forward a couple years later, and I still had hirsutism, even though it did lessen a little bit. My doctor prescribed spironolactone. I took it for a few months and loved it. My hair got so much lighter and my skin all over my body felt all around smooth for the first time in forever. But around fall of last year (2014), after a few months on spiro, I started to feel kind of sick. I also gained weight and didn't know why (my working out and eating happens were so on point!). I got off spiro because I assumed it was the culprit. Facial hair came back worse than ever (and still is).

I tried everything to lose the weight and nothing was working. I also started to feel a little off in general. I went to an acupuncturist for random pains in my body like back pain, knee pain, etc. Months of on and off seemingly random symptoms of fatigue, eye swelling, depression, nausea, chest pain, even ear pain. My primary care physician retired and I got a new one in March of 2015. I expressed to her my frustration with losing weight, and mentioned some of the other symptoms. I also told her about my ongoing hirsutism and how spiro worked for me but I felt crummy. She checked my ears and it was nothing. She suggested I get something like the Fitbit for my weight management (which I love haha), and she prescribed to me Vaniqa cream for my face to try. It was okay. She also said at some point in the next few months i take several different blood tests including testing my thyroid. She said not urgent so I didn't really take it seriously, given my busy work schedule and me traveling so much in the months after the visit.

Flash forward to late July on night, I was sitting with my mom watching TV as I felt my lip feel tingly and strange. I looked in the mirror and my lip was really swollen, particularly on the left side. It grew, almost in a cartoon-like way, as I looked in the mirror. I panicked and my father drove me to the ER because we thought it might be an allergic reaction to something I don't know I'm allergic to. After hours of waiting at the ER, the swelling actually went down before I saw a doctor. The doctor asked me a couple of questions and just said "yeah it sounds like an allergic reaction." Another doctor came by to confirm the first doctor's diagnosis. They told me to follow up with my primary care physician soon so I can figure out what I'm allergic to, etc. I went to my doc the following week, who agreed it was an allergic reaction and told me I may never find out the cause but referred me to an allergist anyway to see if she can give me allergy tests.

I went to an allergist the following week. The allergist took out a huge packet check list of symptoms and went through each one, asking me if I had experienced this or that in the past year. Examining my symptoms she said she had a feeling it wasn't allergies, but a thyroid issue. She felt my neck, and there was a huge nodule on my left thyroid. She ordered me several blood tests and an ultrasound. I got the tests and ultrasound done in a week, and went to see her to look at results. The blood work showed that my thyroid was not functioning. The thyroid peroxidase (TBO) antibody count was 2,666 (normal range is less than 60!). So basically, my thyoid cells were attacking eachother. The nodule on my left thyroid was over 4 cm. She said my blood work and symptoms that I've been experiencing for the past year lead her to believe I have Hashimoto's disease, a form of hypothyroidism.

I was referred to an endocrinologist who did a fine needle biopsy to see if my nodule was cancerous. He was very positive and said that the vast majority of patients with hypothyroidism and Hashimoto's don't have cancer. But alas, a couple days later, the results showed otherwise. I was diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer. I was referred to an ENT doctor shortly thereafter, and on September 16, I had thyroidectomy. They tried to only remove my left thyroid where the nodule was and save the right, but the cancer spread to the right, so they removed the entire thyroid and a few lymph nodes. I'm currently undergoing radioactive iodine treatment.

I've been doing research and there seems to be a strong link between Hashimoto's/hypothyroidism and PCOS. I've also been reading up on gluten-free/sugar-free diets that help alleviate a vast range of symptoms of diseases like Hashimoto's and PCOS. I wanted to share my story to see if there are others like me who have had PCOS and thyroid issues as well and if so, if you can share your experiences or give some advice.

Thanks for reading :)

Someone please help :(

Hey ya'll! I was diagnosed with PCOS 8 years ago, I'm 26 and right now going through a lot. Where to start... I've been bleeding for a month. Some days heavier then others. (Sorry if I'm being to graphic) well it stopped about 4 days ago and then yesterday it started out with light bleeding, and now I'm bleeding more then I have in awhile. Large clots dark in color. It scares me and I don't know what's going on. I literally have to wear two heavy pads to keep me from bleeding through. I'm on vacation for another week, but I've making a doctor's appointment for when I get back home. Any advice to help would be nice, I just don't know what's going on with my body. Anyone know how I can slow the bleeding if that's even possible? I just want some comfort right now.

Abnormal bleeding

Hi All

So this is probably TMI but I'd really like to know if anyone else has experienced this.

I was a vegetarian, got my periods back slowly, at meat for a short time and they stopped again. Since I stopped eating meat again I've been getting some very light bleeding once a month but have now been spotting for about 3 weeks. Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks,
Roady

Being overweight and chosing birth control/other options!birt

Hello! Starters, im very overweight. 300+ and trying to lose it! For the past few months ive been having some issues female wise. I bled for 2 months straight very heavely with no pain. so i had some test done (ultrasound, paps, bloodwork..the works) and everything came back fine besides finding out my thyroid is a little underactive so i was put on synthroid. I explained to him that i have either no period or bleed for weeks and have unwanted body and facial hair and gain no matter what. He said i could still have pcos even if theres no evidence of cyst on ultrasounds. He then prescribed me a birthcontrol that has a low dose of estrogen..i was scared because i have high blood pressure and in the past it has raised it. I kept asking them about switching to progesterone only pill but he insist the small dose of estrogen will help me and is really wanting me to try. Do you have any ideas or past expirence with what im going through? Any opinions or suggestions on what i should do would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone remembers the Volvo 66? It was the smallest Volvo ever, produced from 1975 till 1980. Here's my idea of what a modern day 66 will look. Personally I like traditional 2-box hatchbacks and 3-box sedans. And I believe the XC90's design and shape can convert well into a city hatchback. These renderings were done by clothing the Skoda Fabia with the exterior of Volvo XC90. Another premium city car anyone?

DOT dirt tires

What are you guys using for street legal dirt tires?

I ride almost 100% dirt but still want to be legal on the road. I currently have Metzeler six days oem tires on my bike. They don't seem to be nearly as good as the Bridgestone M203/204 tires were in the sand at Ganny. I've done a bit of research and I'm thinking Dunlop 606 rear with 908 front might be a good combo.

bad depression at time of month

Hi all. Firstly want to give a bit of background about my situation. I was diagnosed with pcos in 2008. The year before that I was diagnosed with ocd and put on citalopram. Everything was fine until this year. In July, I had my period and a few days after it had ended, I started getting anxious. I went through absolute hell with anxiety and depression. I'm now on sertraline. That has helped but it all goes wrong at my time of the month. My period at end of September, for a week before I came on, I had the week from hell with anxiety and depression. My last period, I had a few tingly anxiety feelings in my head for a few days before but it wasn't anything terrible. I finished that period on Wednesday last week, and on Thursday evening I felt a bit anxious, then from Friday I have felt a heavy depression set in. Crying lots and spending almost all day looking online for help. I am wondering if there is a link between my feelings and pcos? Never explored that possibility before. The sertraline doesn't seem to be helping around my period and now I have been prescribed the combined pill to try and level things out. I'm scared to take it in case it makes things worse. Is there anyone here that could give me advice? Is it normal to suddenly get anxiety years after diagnosis? Is going on the pill the right thing to do? I'll appreciate any reply I get. Sorry for such a long post

What to do? Continue Clomid, Start Femera, or Start Injectibles?

Hello Soul Cysters,

I was diagnosed with PCOS almost year ago. My husband and I have been trying to conceive for 2 years now. I have done 6 rounds of Clomid ( before being diagnosed with PCOS) and never conceived. Was refered to a fertility specialist (where I found out I had PCOS and put on Metformin) and I just finished round 4 of Clomid ( this round was my first 200 mg round) and I didn't conceive this round either. I know I'm on round 4 ( with Metformin) and sometimes it takes 6 rounds, but I am getting frustrated already. It just seems like the Clomid isnt working for me. My progestrone levels have not changed much and I am not conceiving ( even with taking 2000 mg of Metformin daily). I'm thinking about asking the doctor about stopping the Clomid and starting Fermera. I even thought about asking about doing injectibles with an IUI. The only thing is with the injectibles and IUI, the cost is more ( and it's not guaranteed that I will conceive). I'm just frustrated with it. I'm tired of taking Clomid and all the side effects that I expereince and I get nothing out of it (I'm not conceiving). Has anyone gone through this and switched to Femera and it worked for you? Or has anyone done the injectibles and it worked for you. I just need a little bit of encouragement and some advice on what to do. Thanks so much in advance!

Ovarian pain?

Hi all! :)

I've recently been diagnosed with pcos and am definately insulin resistant. I hadn't had a period all this year so my doctor gave me norethisterone to bring on a period. Which after a full year without one I was surprised it was really light, nearly spotting amount, but a bit heavier. I was also given metformin, which I've been taking for 8 days now, 500mg. Midweek I started having persistent ovary dull ache and also sharp every so often. Is this normal when starting met? I haven't had any other side effects. Just wondering if this is something I should mention to my doc. Also, any tips on what else I can do to make metformin have the most effect? My partner and I are thinking of ttc but with no period its a bit of a none starter! I've heard metformin can help restart your period.

Ovarian pain?

Pain?

I am currently 18 years old, diagnosed with PCOS when I was about 13. I had a grapefruit-sized cyst attached to my ovary when I was 13 and got it removed laproscopically when I found a surgeon that was not hesitant to perform the surgery without taking the whole fallopian tube out. I have been taking a lower-estrogen oral contraception for many years, and have started taking 1,000 mg of Metformin daily along with 5,000 ius of vitamin D and 50 mg of vyvanse daily. Started going to a reproductive endocrinologist and she helped me understand the condition. I have very extremely painful periods along with bad cramps, so because of this I take my oral contraception continuously for 3 months, so I only get my period 4 times a year now. The pain I experience (not cramps) is a sharp pain on my left side (same side I got the cyst taken off). This pain did not exist until years after the surgery. The endo told me that the pain is most likely caused from the scar tissue from the surgery and that its triggered during ovulation or menstruation, but I am not 100% if I believe that. It used to only come up before and during my period, but since beginning the continuous birth control, I experience the pain randomly and sometimes constantly now. It is a sharp, pulsing pain. Any ideas or treatments? Does anyone else experience another type of pain along with cramps?

Aside from this, I also may have a slightly herniated disk and/or irritated nerve between my L5 and S1 which causes lower back pain on the left side. This may or may not be going down to my leg yet; I am still hesitant to say. Do you think this issue could trigger the ovarian pain in my left ovary? Trying to connect my multiple health issues :/

I would appreciated any similar experiences! Fight on

PMS or early pregnancy symptoms?

After supplementing with inositol for a while, I had very obvious EWCM for the first time (I usually don't ovulate or have periods) and - ahem - "became intimate" twice during this time period. The very next day, I had uterine cramps (not ovary pain), bloating, tender breasts, and moodiness which has lasted for 3 days now.

I'm probably just not used to what it feels like to have cycles (and I'm not even sure I ovulated this time), but I'm curious what these symptoms could mean. Isn't it too early for PMS? And way too early for pregnancy signs? Is it possible I'm pregnant anyway? Since I've always been irregular, I won't be able to tell by a missed period.

I know it's a ridiculous thing to post since I should know in about 3 weeks anyway, but I couldn't help it!

New Cyster Questions/Concerns

Hello everyone!
Here is my story and some of my concerns/questions:

In May 2015 I found out I have PCOS after trying to conceive for almost 2 years. I had VERY irregular periods. I started a cycle of progesterone to trigger my period and also started taking metformin (even though my insulin levels are great). I took an ovulation test after taking progesterone (because I never got a period) and wanted to see if I was ovulating. Sure enough I WAS OVULATING!!

Then I decided on a whim to take a pregnancy test. I saw POSITIVE. I have been well aquatinted with negative tests, so I knew that is was positive. I then scheduled an appointment with my OBGYN/Nurse Midwife and sure enough I tested positive there too. My bloodwork came back and said I was about 7 weeks at the time. I then miscarried right around the time of our first ultrasound at 10 weeks (baby was developed to 8 weeks), June 2015. We have since been trying to conceive again. I know that God is working miracles every second of every day, and I know that NOTHING is impossible with him!

I naturally miscarried, and ever since then I’ve been having regular periods (about 30 days apart), and am still taking metformin, as well as Pre-natal with pro and pre-biotics.

Recently I’ve noticed I’ve become sensitive to certain foods; dairy and bread. I don’t consume these regularly and I eat a high protein diet with lots of veggies and some fruit, nuts, etc. I very rarely consume any processed foods. I have also been having really weird chest pain, heart palpitations (feels like my heart is racing) tightness and general discomfort in my chest. I’ve also been having some acid reflux, burping, constipation, bloating. I exercise regularly, do yoga, and we have a farm so I am very active day-to-day.

My questions is. Does anyone else have these symptoms? Is this normal? Should I be feeling like this? Is it possible that I have thyroid issues? They were tested before I miscarried, maybe I should get my levels re-checked?

Any help is appreciated! I’m trying to figure out what the heck is going on with my body!

Starting from square one...

I apologize in advance for the long post. DH and I are TTC (and have been) with no luck for a period of time and I am ready to get aggressive with my doc, just not sure where to start.

I have not *technically* been diagnosed with PCOS, however my very first OBGYN was convinced I had it and I have basically all of the symptoms, but I do seem to ovulate on my own fairly consistently. I suspect there are a few months out of the year where I do not ovulate based on my FF charts. My cycles are also fairly regular with a few really short cycles (23 days) and a few longer cycles (33 days). My LP is usually 12-13 days. In the past I was diagnosed as IR, but my primary doc has since told me that based on my A1C he no longer thinks I am.

So, DH (35) and I (31) started TTC mid-2013. I had a blighted ovum in October 2013. After that I had to have some non-related surgeries and we did not start TTC again until September 2014. I had a chemical pregnancy in February 2015. We started TTC again in April 2015 and have had no luck since then. I have had the RPL thrombotic panel and a few other tests related to gene mutation and nothing has come up as abnormal. The only thing was a 21 day test where my doc suspected low progesterone, so I am taking that after ovulation now until my period.

At this point, I am getting extremely frustrated because something is not right. I know it in my gut, but I have no official diagnosis to go on in order to be proactive and aggressive with treatments. I have my annual pap smear scheduled for 11/30 and I have to find a new doc within my practice because the doc that has seen me through the miscarriages is semi-retiring and will only be handling gynecology starting in May. So, I am looking at this as a opportunity to find a new doc in the practice (there are 11) that will be more aggressive with finding a treatment plan for me. In the past it has just been a "keep trying" mentality, but that does not seem to be working, I have no kids and I am not getting any younger.

So, I guess at this point what should I be pushing for? An official PCOS diagnosis? Clomid treatments? I know I want to push my doc harder, but I do not know what kind of tests or treatments to push for. I am just lost and frustrated and want to feel like I am doing more than "just trying" because something is not right.

Help!

My wife has PCOS and we are currently trying to have a baby.
Medically, the doctors say we're ok, just not happening for us yet. It's all very stressful and her mood swings are off the charts. I literally sat one day and watched her go through the entire scale of emotions on whether we continue trying to surrogacy to trying again and everything in between.

I love my wife and our family very much. She's the one.
Just when the mood swings get going sometimes then suddenly everything under the sun is my fault and there's nothing I can say right.

I question if we should even keep trying, but then she feels like less of a woman and gets deeply depressed about it.

I just want my wife back. Feeling really alone.

Got a critter in the attic!

Got home after a weekend in Toronto with old friends and my wife thought she heard a noise in the bedroom ceiling. Snagged the step ladder and opened the attic hatch and... Saw two eyes looking back at me. Raccoon is in there and must be the better part of 25 lbs. Anyone got some suggestions for a service in the Guelph/Cambridge/Kitchener area?

Ideally I would want the guy caught in a live trap and taken to some woodsy area away from our subdivision. I also need to figure out how the heck he got in. We had our roof redone two years ago and I had some "whirlybird" roof vents installed. Maybe he got into that thing?

Buying a bike elsewhere in Canada, how to register?

Next season or later I want to do a trip up to Yukon/Alaska, etc...

I have briefly looked into shipping or flying my bike out and meeting it there, but then started to consider... what if I buy a bike there and ride it around and then home?

I've seen KLRs for okay prices listed in Whitehorse, and they also have a bike dealership that I could buy something new if I wanted to.

The problem though, is how would I register it?

Obviously I am not a resident of Yukon or B.C., and I am sure they have some sort of residency requirements for getting plates.

Insurance would be easy to solve... just call my company when I get a VIN.

Would temporary plates from the territory or province work at least until I got to Kenora or Thunder Bay where I could properly transfer it over?

PCOS and DHEA

8 years ago my daughter was diagnosed with PCOS at 17 years old based solely on an ultrasound which showed multiple ovarian cysts. She had no weight issues, hair issues and had a normal regular if somewhat heavy crampy period. She was put on Birth Control pill and re-scanned every 12 months - the scans in later years showed reduced and then no cysts and we stopped having them as often. Over the years she has developed adrenal fatigue issues, depression and gained a lot of weight particularly abdominally amongst other health issues. She had a cortisol saliva test this week which was normal for cortisol but her DHEA was 5 x the normal level. She has been advised to stop the pill and have her hormone levels checked but is scared the DHEA will convert to testosterone and trigger off the hair issues or further weight gain. I am questioning if she even had PCOS. What does anyone here know about high DHEA and what would you recommend her next step be? Thanks

Hi! Has anybody been on Bromocriptine for high prolactin? If so, did you stop when you found out you are pregnant or did you take it throughout the first trimester? My re told me to stop it once I get pregnant but I just read a few articles suggesting it may reduce chance of m/c...anyone have any info on this topic? :) thanks!

Rent your motorcycle (125-250) for road test?

Not sure if this is an odd request but I'm looking to rent a motorcycle for the M2 test at the MTO. I have NOT booked the test yet (site is actually under maint) so the date can be flexible and location as well (honestly anywhere in the GTA/Durham, I can drive over). We can negotiate price and maybe a security deposit of some sort?

I've ridden a 125 Grom so another 125 would be the most comfortable. PM me, thanks. :)

Top case, free to good home!

I'm getting rid of a top case. Brand unknown, size unknown, but it will hold a full face helmet. It has a troublesome latch; sometimes it stays shut, sometimes not. I've given up fussing with it and replaced it. It can used as is, or held closed with a bungee net. Comes complete with mounting bracket and hardware, and two keys. Also includes an electrical harness for the brake light, which works some of the time. I've removed the back rest for my new case, so there are three holes on the front side which should be covered with tape, silicone, nuts and bolts, whatever, it's up to you.

Free to good home. PM if interested. If it doesn't move by Wednesday, it's going in the garbage.

Newly Diagnosed

Hello,

I just wanted to introduce myself as I'm newly diagnosed PCOS and I'm at a bit of a loss and extremely overwhelmed! I'm 26 and from Melbourne, Australia.

April 2015 I had a mass bleeding after SI and went to the ER. After 24 hours it seemed to calm down and they told me I may have PCOS.

I went to my GP and she ordered tests (thyroid, testosterone etc.)
All came back normal except I had high testosterone 1.9 (meant to be <1.8) and high calculated free testosterone 41 (meant to be 1-34). I got sent off for a transvaginal ultrasound. The results showed no abnormalities except a small (normal apparently) cyst on my right ovary.

My cycles have been irregular for the past 6 months before April 2015, and some bleeding even lasting months.

My GP said due to no cysts I most likely don't have PCOS and told me to lose weight (which I defiantly need to do, I had a 65 kg weight gain in 2 years!) and that it might help control my hormones.

October 2015 I went back to my GP for a follow up and another transvaginal ultrasound. My results showed the cyst on my right ovary had disappeared however now I have 15 follicles on my right ovary. I also had a small cyst on my left ovary.

She then diagnosed me with PCOS. I'm at a bit of a loss what to do now. I have an appointment with a gyno booked in, however it will be a 4-6 month wait because it's at a public hospital and not an emergency.

My GP told me if I get my weight under control most of my symptoms will most likely calm themselves. I wasn't told anything about insulin resistance or diabetes but my bsl (non fasting) was 5.3 she didn't say anything else.

My plan for the next 4-6 months is to cut down on dairy and soy. And try to eat a more balanced diet of fruit and veg. Maybe try natural herbs? I'm at a bit of a loss but I know my main focus is to lose weight and balance my hormones. I hoping that will make my cycle more regular.

I'm not on the pill or any other medications for PCOS only seritide for asthma and fluvoxamine malate.

I'm really just looking for support and help because I'm just so lost and confused right now! I also feel like this is my fault because I'm extremely obese (BMI over 40), I feel like if I wasn't so big I would have never been diagnosed.

I had three bikes shipped from Toronto to San Francisco.

I wanted to give a shout out to TFX. They were very quick and very professional. I was traveling and when I got home last night all three bikes were sitting in the Garage. All my wife had to do was open the door for them.

I can recommend them.

PCOS and fallopian tube removed. Has anyone conceived with 1 functioning tube/ovary

I just had a surgery to remove what we thought was a 6.5cm cyst and it ended up being my right fallopian tube that had fluid so it had to be removed. I still have the left ovary and fallopian tube however that ovary has the "string of pearls" (from the last sonogram we did) my chances of conceiving are way more slim now. Has anyone conceived with only 1 ovary/tube? Thanks!

Triggering ovulation naturally in "thin" PCOS

Hi,
I am newly diagnosed with PCOS but am average weight (5'6" and 125 lbs). I historically have about 3-4 ovulations/periods per year. We plan to start TTC in February.

I'm wondering about natural ways to induce ovulation. My doctor doesn't want to use Metformin because I have a tendency toward blood sugar drops, and if we can, I'd rather use natural options than pharmaceuticals. Some of the things I've been reading about are Vitex (I already take FertilAid), Myo-inositol, Maca, and Vitamin D (I currently take 2000 iu/day).

Do any of you have advice on this? Are any of those good options that you've had success with? Do you have other natural remedies that have worked for you to "encourage" more frequent ovulation? Thank you in advance!

Hair getting thinner?

Hi a little backstory... I was diagnosed with PCOS on July 2015. For a year I did not have my period (2014-2015) What's strange is during this time, year of missing my period (and probably the start of PCOS) I was not experiencing hair loss, or excessive shedding. I was prescribed Mono Linyah, ortho cyclen, and it seems to be working fine. I also did a sonogram and I have small 7 cysts. But starting on August - Nov I'd brush my hair in the morning and find 20+ strands of hair fall out! I've realized a lot more hair falls out when I shampoo/condition. And then my hair started to become brittle, frizzy, dry... Now the top of my head is thinning, and my hair doesn't feel thick as before. I don't understand what's going on? I used to be 198 lbs, I lost 50 lbs by exercising every other day, cutting back on sugary foods, stopped snacking as before, and avoiding fast food / highly processed foods. I've been doing research online, I read about diffuse hair loss. I've also read about sudden weight loss can put stress on your body triggering hair loss, but that can't be right because I was losing weight slowly in a healthy way. I've read about lack of iron or other important vitamins, so I've started taking multi-vitamins. I've also read about having low testosterone in women can trigger hair loss... Would that be possible for me? Apparently losing weight balances out hormones, and I've been taking birth control to lower testosterone... I think my PCOS was caused by stress, as last year was extremely stressful for me, and my family do not have history of PCOS. So I'm lowering stress, losing weight, and birth control = less T which means hair loss? I have no idea. I'm trying to figure it out, sorry if I sound stupid. I'm going to an endocrinologist soon, hopefully he'll tell me what's going on. It just sounds so strange to me beginning of my pcos (before i even knew i had it) i wasn't experiencing hair loss, I just didn't have my period and had acne on my face and gained weight. Why now? Why would I lose hair if I'm receiving treatment and doing everything right?

Newbie To It All

Hi everyone,

I have newly diagnosed PCOS, though I've had all of the symptoms since I was in my teens - extremely irregular periods (we're talking months between Aunt Flo's visits, and when she did visit, I could hardly get out of bed because of the pain and the bleeding was horribly heavy), intense acne, sporadic coarse hair growth on my face, difficulty losing weight, overly oily skin and hair, among others. I finally had someone talk some sense into me this summer to go get a work up done (originally thinking it could be hypothyroidism, though all the thyroid tests come back perfectly normal), and after blood test after blood test (my endocrinologist wanted to rule out Cushing's and other potential issues), and both a transvaginal and a transabdominal ultrasound, I finally received word that, though my blood tests were all normal, the ultrasounds showed lots of cysts, earning me the diagnosis. I have yet to schedule a follow-up appointment with my endocrinologist to get started on a treatment plan (just started a new job, so my insurance switched), but when she talked to my PCP, she said she'd likely start me on Metformin.

Anyway, that's my diagnosis in a nutshell.

Anyone tried Reclipsen Birth Control?

I was just prescribed Reclipsen birth control. Has anyone tried it? What was your experience? I was told it would be the best birth control to help manage androgen levels. I have been trying to lose weight after discontinuing breast feeding my daughter (pregnancy and breast feeding help to regulate PCOS) and nothing has helped. My cortisol levels are high, so that doesn't help either. I am trying to lower my androgen levels in order to lose weight and to have more energy.

Shared Wrenching Spaces for the Winter in Downtown Toronto?

Hi Everyone,

Wrr owner here who lives in downtown Toronto and would love to work my bike over the winter instead of waiting til spring. Does anyone know of safe/secure spaces/garages where one can bring their bike and tools for the winter months to do some work on them? Or is there a rental space that people might be interested in sharing costs to do some work on their bikes?

Thanks Joe

Waiting it out and it's killing me!

I found out I was expecting on October 4th. It was a huge shock, but we were excited! My first visit was on October 20th, when I received a dating U/S and was told I was 5w6d and I was able to hear my baby's heartbeat. From November 1-5th, I began experiencing tightening and pressure low that made me think of contractions. When I'd rest, it would get better. On the 4th, along with the contraction like sensation, I was having major back cramps that wrapped around. I also noticed pink tinged discharge. On the 5th, while waiting for the dr's office to return my phone calls, I began spotting. I went later that day to see my dr and discovered my baby had passed or stopped growing at 7 weeks, there was no heartbeat. I should have been 8w2d at this point. The sac measured even smaller than the baby at this point and was pulled away from the uterine wall. I am devestated. I have had 5 other losses, in between my two kids (ages 18 and 6) but they never lasted as long as this one did. I would always get a positive at home and within a day or two, start my period. Only 1 other m/c was confirmed by a dr and that was after the fact during an ultrasound and left over tissue was discovered. I had so much hope for this pregnancy and thought it would end like my last (with my son), carrying full term and bringing home a healthy baby.

Now I sit and wait. The spotting has stopped. I'm only experiencing sharp, burning pains from time to time, on my right side. I have no idea what to expect because I've never had a loss this far along. It's torture. I think I've cried as much as I possibly can and I was to move on, yet I have to wait.

Had as anyone had a similar experience? How long can this last?

The people who put the bike away already.

It sure was a fantastic week. Every day was great for riding.
Next week looks pretty good to.

Do you feel bad when the weather is so great and your bike is away.

I have never understood putting the bike away when there could be some really great days ahead.

Bicycle + Streetcar tracks = dangerous

Yesterday morning, a young lady on a bicycle pulled up beside me at a red light. I let her go ahead as the right lane was closed for construction... She rode right on the streetcar track and seemed to get stuck when trying to get back to the right lane, almost wiping out...

Metformin Side effects

Those of you on Metformin, is your kidney and liver function constantly monitored by your doctor? And if it is monitored, at what frequency is it monitored?
And do you have to take a Vit B12 supplement?

I was considering asking to be put on Metformin ER to help with breastfeeding (hopefully) and to regulate my cycles after I wean, but the potential for kidney and liver problems as well as it depleting Vit b12 kind of scares me.

I did read the FAQ on metformin and the links about it, but I want to hear some first hand experience.

REVIEW: Centennial College M1 Exit (M2) training course

I just thought I'd do a little writeup for the benefit of members here who may be looking for thoughts on M1 Exit course options - this is my review/thoughts on the course offered by Centennial College at their Scarborough campus. This probably won't be of much use for anyone now until next spring (as they've wrapped up for the year now) but I wanted to do it while everything was fresh in my mind with the hope that people will come across it in searches when the time comes..and perhaps I'll bump the thread in the spring.

As a whole, it was a very positive experience. A footnote, first - I used to ride...20 years ago. I had a sportbike in the early 90's when I was much younger and stupider, and one of my stupid moves was riding under my M2 for several years and then never actually taking my M2-M exit road test before selling my bike - the motorcycle graduated licencing had just been introduced, and long story short, since the M2 filled my needs at that point in time I just never got around to exiting it. So the inevitable happened after I sold my bike and stopped riding - my M2 expired, meaning I had to start all over again this year when I got back into riding. The MSC seemed like a good investment.

So, I went into the MSC with plenty of experience, some expectations, some bad habits (more on that later), but also with an open mind, willing and excited to learn.

There was about 20-25 people in my class - small I was told, with peak summer classes being in the 35+ numbers.

Evening 1 (Friday night) is all classroom. A good booklet, lots of discussion, and a lot of theory as well.

Morning 1 (Saturday) - meet in classroom, split into groups with assigned instructors, and begin. Gear check, first order of business - minimum DOT helmet, jeans or better, leather (real leather, not pleather) jacket or a purpose made motorcycle jacket (AKA, my Joe Rocket Ballistic was just fine), and proper leather/motorcycle footwear that provided ankle protection.

I had my first WTF moment at this point when my instructor asked "Does everyone know how to put on their helmets?"...and one guy in my group said no..and needed help to do up his buckle. Until that moment I honestly thought that this course, although geared at beginnings, wasn't geared to "I've never even had a helmet on my head nor ever touched a motorcycle" level riders. I had figured most people opting to take this course would have had some very basic experience, or that they would have taken the "introduction to motorcycles" course already that would have given them at least the absolute basics...but, nope!

Onwards!

We started with basic familiarization. Where controls are...what they do, how to mount and dismount, expected behaviour and policies. Good stuff, but very basic - but appropriate for many (most?) of the students. I had to keep reminding myself that many of these people had literally never ridden a motorcycle before, or possibly never even touched one.

Now on the range with all the bikes lined up the hilarity (at least internally, for me) began. There was a large age range of students - some very young and quiet, some older and more mature, and a handful of piss and vinegar young kids who were already drooling at the 125CBR's as if they were Hayabusas. Myself, I was eyeballing one of the cruiser style bikes and ended up with a VStar 250, chuckling quietly under my breath (as I strolled at a walking pace towards it while all the young kids dashed and flailed towards the "crotch rockets") that I actually had nearly twice the horsepower with my choice, and my bike didn't sound like a sewing machine...nor was it going to leave me with a sore back after 2 10 hour days. ;)

The bike selection was good, I was impressed - cruisers, the aforementioned CBR125's, and quite a number of Groms. All the bikes were in decent to good shape - many showed signs of crashes which was not unexpected, and most accessories such as mirrors and exposed lighting (signals, for example) were removed...but overall the bikes were all in nice shape all things considered. The Groms were very clearly quite new, actually. The most worn and weathered were the cruisers IMHO, but my bike was still perfectly good and I was happy with it.

The first hour or two was tedious, for me at least - it was a lot of very basic groundwork including pushing the motorcycles (with a partner "riding") to get people comfortable with the feel of rolling, balancing, and braking. However, given the aforementioned level of some people in the course I TOTALLY and COMPLETELY understand and appreciated why this stage was included.

Next up, actually getting on the bikes, starting them up, and learning about the friction point. A few inches ahead, a few inches back.

Then, drive one parking space ahead at a time to the end of the course, turn around, come back. Small steps, but still very slow paced for me.

As the day went on things did progress quickly however, and some students who were clearly not picking up on things did start to struggle. It is VERY fast paced in the grand scheme of things and there was definitely some who were not learning at the required pace - most common issue at this point was launching - lots of stalls and restarts. Although I was actually enjoying riding at this point there was times where those of us who were progressing well were stuck waiting in lines (for A-to-B driving exercises) behind those who were not doing so well. At one point I was sitting for a good solid 10 minutes in line (along with 5 or 6 others) waiting behind one person who could just NOT launch without stalling...some just were NOT getting it, and others I believe might have unintentionally shifted into second or third gear and weren't aware of it, or didn't know how to get back down to first.

Regardless, the instructors were helpful and eventually did get everyone going, but I felt their pain - sometimes no amount of coaching can help quite enough in these sorts of situations, particularly when things are fast paced and MUST progress to stay inside the course guidelines and time limits.

On and off, if I could nitpick a few things, I felt that some requirements or expectations weren't adequately communicated to everyone. For example, early in the day it was stressed that students were to ONLY use their rear brakes as low speed maneuvering and such was being taught and I was told on a few occasions to "take my hand off the front brake lever" when out of habit I was using it in some scenarios...however as we progressed to higher speed riding I continued to follow this guideline only to be asked "why are you not using your front brake?" at one point. I politely mentioned "we were told not to use it yet earlier" to which the instructor replied "straight line stopping, use BOTH brakes!", suggesting I should have known that the front brake was no longer verboten. Makes sense of course, but that "next step" wasn't communicated as an expectation before the exercise began and I was still operating under the assumption we were still not supposed to touch it. Minor thing but worth mentioning.

Also, the "turn your head and check both ways" thing was constantly drilled into your head throughout the course at EVERY stop. I makes sense, but after a while it became clear that people were just "swinging their heads" to fulfil the requirements and NOT actually processing what they were looking at...as I saw people pull out in front of other people (during a few simulated road courses) several times.

Day 1 ended positively with most riders being able to competently ride around the range, shift, and stop - some smoother than others. ;)

Day 2 started with no nonsense - check your bike, remember what you learned yesterday, and get going - no more "how to ride basics", now it was practicing and honing skills required for the road test later in the day.

This is where I felt I really started to learn...and where some of my bad habits from years of previous riding started to show. My biggest one - covering the controls with my hands when there was no need - the instructors were constantly having tell me to get my hands wrapped around the handlebars when cruising vs having my fingers resting on the clutch and front brake. Also, using 2 fingers for controls vs all 4, something particularly badly ingrained for the front brake I soon learned...something that many experienced riders do I'm sure we will all admit. I also tended to focus too much on the road directly ahead of my front wheel vs looking where I was headed while in turns - this comes back to a bad "sand and stones on a corner" experience I had when I rode 20 years ago, something that always caused me to pay attention to the road condition directly in front of my bike vs looking through the corner where I was actually going - a good habit to break I agree, but I can't say I wasn't a little paranoid leaning the bike through some of the higher speed turns (particularly during the collisions avoidance swerve training) without looking down at the road to see if there was sand, leaves, stones, etc etc - although I knew that sort of thing wasn't going to be on the range, old habits die hard, no matter how bad they are. My comfort level increased as the day went on however and I was surprised at how much better I cornered while looking into the turn vs straight ahead.

I did watch a few of the other "piss and vinegar" kids get overly excited at some points...to the point where I was concerned for the safety of one of them in particular when he was getting overconfident, however not long afterwards his ego was deflated (without going into details) and he came back down to earth. Most students were observant of the rules and such, but there were a few who felt they were "superbikers" already and were stretching them when the instructors weren't looking. Thankfully they were driving 125's, otherwise there would have been incidents...lets just put it that way. This is not a poor reflection on the instructors, it's a poor reflection on some of the overconfident and cocky students, end of story...but overconfidence can come back to bite you sometimes as it did for a few of them in question here.

In general, I was surprised at how few incidents there were, actually. Yes, there was at least 1 or 2 low speed spills with no injuries AFAIK, lots of stalled engines, and a few bruised egos, but all in all the training was working well for most people I could tell - it's a good course with a rapid, but well thought out methodology that had most people progressing. I just did my thing and went with the flow despite it being very easy for the most part. I did find some new challenges in the tight course maneuvering portion of the course, but even that didn't present much of challenge for me personally, although plenty of other people struggled immensely with it. I did find that I was super conscious of my bad habits however and began to break them as the day went on, something that has continued since then.

Yes, even the guy with 3 or 4 years of previous riding experience learned something, as I hoped and anticipated I would, and I enjoyed and appreciated that...and I think I ditched a few bad habits along the way, which was a cherry on top.

Shortly after lunch the training wrapped up and testing began. No more coaching, it's time to perform. The required exercises were well laid out and the expectations and required procedure were VERY well communicated to each and every rider just before they performed each test segment. To toot my own horn I came within 2 or 3 points of scoring perfect on my exam..but I was about 0.3 seconds too slow on the "accelerate through a corner" portion of the road test...something I kicked myself for because I knew I could have went a lot faster, but that "sand in a corner!" fear was still in the back of my head and perhaps subconsciously I must have backed out of the throttle a little in the timed section.

Unfortunately a small number of students did start to incur too many points and passed the "fail" limit by the second or third exercise, sadly ending their day. I felt bad for them, almost all of them were trying really hard (none of the piss and vinegar crowd if I wasn't mistaken) but just didn't have the finesse yet to make the time requirements on many of the segments. Each segment is "scored" based on a points system and once you incur a critical number of points, you're excused....somewhat embarrassingly as the coaches a required (by law) to take the motorcycle away from the students at that very point they've officially failed, leading to a few riders doing a "walk of shame" to the curb. Again, I felt bad for them, but it is what it is - as with any test, you pass or fail based on the merits of your skills. They get to try again at a later date and I hope they were successful.

Regardless, testing went on...and the greater majority were successful.

I feel bad but I forget the instructors names, but they were all great. A good mix of curt professionalism with a few good senses of humour thrown in that made all the students chuckle and smile frequently - having fun was encouraged so long as you all followed the rules. Was it worth it? Absolutely, even for someone like myself that was returning to riding after a 2 decade long absence. Heck, I'm convinced almost any self-taught rider could learn a surprising amount by taking the course.

A quick classroom wrap up afterwards to discuss everyone's exam results, and we were on our way.

I'd recommend the course - good equipment, good instructors, and in general an overall very positive experience. I genuinely left feeling like I was a better rider than I arrived - my ego is not so inflated that I can't admit that.

Questions...post em up, happy to answer.

Just diagnosed with PCOS and Insulin Resistance

Hi Everyone!

i was diagnosed on Thursday with PCOS and Insulin Resistance and been put on metformin. I'm not to sure how as only had one blood test and someone said she should have done an ultrasound to see if my ovaries were enlarged. I have high cortisol too but she said that was not anything to be concerned about as once I loose weight things should go back to normal. I can understand the Insulin resistance as it was 35 fasting and she said it should be around 5-6 so that's way above. I'm 38 5f 6 and weigh 85kg. I have also been told to check out possible MS as I have other symptoms which was why I went to see a woman's hormone dr in the first place.
Has anyone with this and on metformin who sticks to the no carb diet lost the weight and returned to normal insulin levels and pcos free. I know nothing about it so not to sure how the whole thing works.
thanks
Sus

A motorcyclist is fighting for his life after an early-morning collision with a pick-up truck.
It happened on Regional Road 20 at Woodburn Road just after 6:30 am. Hamilton Police say the truck was heading westbound on Regional Road 20 when the driver tried to make a left turn on to Woodburn; that’s when he slammed in to the motorcycle. The truck’s driver suffered minor injuries.
Collision investigator Matt Hewko told CHCH News any crash involving a motorcycle is serious. “The motorcyclist doesn’t have all the crumple zones and the safety mechanisms that everybody in a four-wheel vehicle has. Even though this was a side impact for the pick-up truck, they still have all of the doors and the safety mechanisms inside to keep this driver and passenger safe. With a motorcyclist we don’t have that unfortunately.”
Road and weather conditions are still being investigated; alcohol has been ruled out.
Regional Road 20, a major route for traffic between Hamilton and Niagara, was closed for several hours for the investigation; police want anyone with information to give them a call.

A 39-year-old Hamilton man is dead after a crash on a motorcycle with a car in the east end Thursday night.
The scene on the Queenston Road overpass at the Red Hill Valley Parkway reopened sometime after 3 a.m., police said, following hours of investigation by the Hamilton Police collision reconstruction unit (CRU).
Traffic was shut down on the on and off ramps of the overpass for several hours following the 8:30 p.m. collision.
The motorcyclist was rushed to Hamilton General with no vital signs and was pronounced dead in hospital.
The driver of the car, a 26-year-old Hamilton man, refused treatment at the scene.
"No charges at this point," said Staff Sgt. Brad Clark early Thursday.
Clark was not able to give more details about the crash as the CRU is still investigating. Police say alcohol was not a factor.
It was the second crash Thursday that involved a motorcycle and the CRU.
Just before 7 a.m., emergency crews were called to Regional Road 20 and Woodburn Road on the Stoney Creek Mountain after a head-on crash between a bike and a pickup truck.
At last update, police said the motorcyclist in that case remained in hospital with critical injuries. That stretch of road reopened several hours later.
This is the city's 13th traffic fatality of the year.
Witnesses who have not yet talked to police are asked to call Detective Wes Wilson of the CRU at 905-546-4755.

So, how bad it is to take Metformin inconsistently?

Sooo, I am not very diligent about taking my Metformin twice a day. Often it's because I have to go somewhere and I am worried about GI effects, or because I am not sure I am eating enough food with it, etc. (I'm aware that skipping a dose only prolongs the adjustment and the side effects.) They are huge pills that are hard to swallow. And I am not really sure what it does for me. I'm considered an atypical PCOS case, so losing weight was not a major goal. I've lost about 10 lbs on it, but I don't know if that's because it does something useful for my blood sugar or because of the lack of appetite/ diarrhea at first. As far as I can tell Metformin by itself doesn't make me ovulate, although I haven't had to take Provera to end a cycle since I started taking it. Not sure if that's coincidence or not, since it's not like I needed Provera every month before.

Since Femara is doing the important part -- making me O like a champ -- I am tempted to think that occasionally skipping a Metformin pill doesn't matter much. But I've also read that Metformin in the first trimester can reduce the chances of miscarriage, which are higher than average with PCOS as it is. So that would be a major reason to take it diligently (not that I am pregnant yet, as far as I know...) I'm wondering what you all think. How important is it for me to commit to the full dose every day no matter what?

So, how bad it is to take Metformin inconsistently?

Peterborough swap meet this sunday?

Does anyone know about this? A fellow rider at work has been mentioning it for several weeks but I can only find one single reference to it online (which seems odd), and the link appears to go to a dead PDF...which makes me wonder if it's actually a thing or not this year.

I know it's been a go in past years (Google it, "Peterborough motorcycle swap meet morrow building", but I hate to drive all the way up there this Sunday only to find that it's not actually even on this year.

Bike died randomly

This week i got a new bike 2009 SFV650 and was riding home when my bike died at a stop... Happened twice (today & yesterday) at the same street.

I tried starting it back up but it wouldn't. Checked kill switch, kick stand, etc. So after many tries turning bike on and off, the lights on the display didn't come back on.

I went to autosource to get battery checked out and results

Voltage:13.26V
Measured: 204 CCA
Rated: YTA-bs
Temp: 64F

Replace Battery.

Is this the problem? I wouldn't think the bike would die at a stop even with a bad battery?

EDIT: Also its a lithium battery if that matters

Bike died randomly

Dufferin / Steeles, Nov 5

Check this out ... strange one for sure ..... according to witnesses, the rider of this Gsxr clipped a couple of minivans , then dropped the bike on the middle of Dufferin Street ... First van took off ..... Rider ran off .... other van pulled over, then a lady pulled out of the plaza on the southeast corner, didn't see the bike laying on the road, and ran over it , getting stuck on top.... Crazy ! E2 level tanked on Follistim - please give me hope!

***IUI cycle, not IVF***

I'm on CD 17 (16 days in a row of injecting with Follistim) and I just found out my E2 tanked in 3 days from 481 to 136! Everything I read online is bad news... please tell me there is still hope. They had me bump down to 50 IU to prevent OHSS and now they want me back up to 75. My follies are definitely growing slowly, but I'm so scared that we're going to have to cancel the cycle. I go back Monday, but it'll be CD 20... how many days will they really let me stim before calling it quits?

Pain after IUI... Input?

Hi ladies :)
I need a little input...
I triggered on Tuesday morning with one follie on the right side at 21mm... The left side had a lot of tiny follies. Nothing over 6mm.
Wednesday morning I went in for IUI - I had a lot of stabbing pains in the right side until last night. I figured it was just that one follie doing what it's supposed to
yesterday morning I did the second IUI... Since yesterday afternoon I have had a lot of stabbing pain in the left side - even more so than what I had on my right... And it's not easing up.
i have lots of theories of what it could be, but if there is anyone who has a solid explanation of what is going on in that ovary, or has had the same thing, I would love to hear about it!

Burlington looks to slow traffic on Snake Road

Quote:

The city plans to curb traffic speeds on a rural road popular with motorcyclists after a group of local residents raised concerns last year over noise and safety.

Municipal staff undertook a traffic study along Snake Road, near the Hamilton border, in recent months and presented the findings, with recommendations, at a public meeting last Thursday (Oct. 29).

Acting manager of traffic services Jenny Setterfield said staff first met with residents last year to talk about repairs being done to the Snake Road bridge, but also heard a lot at the time about issues related to traffic.

“We committed to them that we would do a full analysis, top to bottom, of Snake Road and come back to them within a year,” Setterfield said of previous meeting with residents.

“The feeling I took away from them (Thursday) is that we listened to them and we addressed the majority of their concerns and there are a couple of follow-ups.”

The most significant changes on the way include more signage and three sets of rumble strips to deter speeding motorcyclists, which some in the community accuse of being a nuisance.

Over the summer, speed data from three locations along the four-kilometre road, between Thomson Drive and its end point at Beth Jacob Cemetery, south of the QEW, was collected and analyzed.

City staff found through the use of Automatic Traffic Recorders (ATRs) that 85 per cent of motorists along the north end of Snake Road were travelling at 56 km/h. The speed limit is 50 km/h.

The information was passed along to Halton police who plan to step up further enforcement strategies in the area, including the possible placement of a decoy cruiser.

Setterfield said after installing the rumble strips, the city would collect more speed data next summer to measure the effectiveness.

The benefits, she explained to the Post, would hopefully be three-fold.

“The one being the deterrent for motorcycles and the car clubs that come down and do a lot of their testing,” she said. “The second is the awareness coming into the neighbourhood, and before the curves (in the road), and the third is going to be (reducing) speed.”

Ward 1 Councillor Rick Craven also attended last week’s meeting and said the flow of traffic was the No. 1 issue he and fellow councillors hear about from constituents.

Craven said in the case of Snake Road he was “very impressed” with how staff reacted to the community’s concerns.

“The nature of the urban environment is constantly changing and people are often abusing the roads and we need to continue to be vigilant,” Craven said.

“I think what the residents told us tonight was that they were happy with what we presented but they’d be interested in even more traffic calming at the north end of Snake Road, so that’s worth considering.”

Some at the meeting, attended by more than a dozen residents, asked if staff would look at additional measures such as temporary rubber speed humps.

Traffic services staff didn’t rule out taking further action if the rumble strips proved ineffective, but were also careful to note that they’d be hesitant given the possible danger to unsuspecting motorcyclists.

Craven said, at least for now, the new traffic calming measures are “a strong step in the right direction, and I’m pleased with how far we’ve come.

“Snake Road has a long history of abuse, particularly by speeding cars and motorcycles, and it’s important that we address that.”

Is inducing a period with apo medroxy necessary before Mirena insertion?

My gynecologist prescribed apo medroxy for 10 days to induce a period before my IUD insertion. Isn't a negative pregnancy test good enough? I'm wondering why this was done.

IVF/HCG Questions

Hello there everyone,

I just have a quick question for you veterans of IVF.

My husband and I have been ttc for 10 years. We did clomid, and 3 IUI's in the past. All three IUI's were deemed unsuccessful, although the levels were a bit confusing and I was told they they were "too early to count" as miscarriages.

We finally went to South Africa in October to do our first IVF cycle. (we are Canadians living in Madagascar as expats so the hop to SA was easy). I do have PCOS, and endometriosis, and I don't ovulate. We did the egg retrieval on October 21st. We got 19 eggs, 15 were injected, and 13 fertilized. We were told that of those 13, 11 did very well. We did not use HCG to trigger the egg release as I was in danger of OHSS, so we used Lucrein, which lowers the chances of a pregnancy by about 5% as it causes some biochemical damage to the lining of the uterus.

On October 24th, 2 healthy embryos were transferred. I was told to test on day 10 (which seemed early to me). My BHCG level was 14, 10dpd5t. Though this was low, I was told that anything over 5 is considered a pregnancy. I did a second test on 12dpd5t, and my results are at 11. I'm in a bit of a panic. First of all I'm relying on local blood clinics in Madagascar so I'm not so sure about that. But I also know that a drop in levels aren't good. Especially when they start out that low.

I'm reading all over the place that people have numbers start low, then drop, the rise again; I'm also reading that a low number means the pregnancy is doomed; and even that people have consistently low numbers all through out their pregnancies but things turned out okay.

I am looking for advice, or someone that has experienced this before. We just don't know what to make of it at all.

Thanks for putting up with my panic! My husband is insistent that we stay positive, because it's so early, and I'm trying, but we've waited so long for this that I'm really struggling to stay calm.

Anyone had a trip to Canadian Rockies?

Had anyone been to the Canadian Rockies? I have planned one next year to the Algonquin Provincial Park with my friends. Hearing a lot about the Rockies, but couldn’t find time to explore one. We have booked a cabin at the adventure lodge inside the Algonquin Park, named Killarney Lodge. We were amazed by the pics of the lodge and it’s surroundings and really excited to go. The package includes many recreational activities including biking, hiking, fishing, canoeing etc. Wish it could be one of the best trips that we had so far. Share your Canadian adventure experiences.

Found a few positive online reviews, nothing crazy negative. No foam eye padding, but maybe I can find after. Can't find anything local other than Adidas or Oakley.

Safety frames with inserts are another option. Might order from Amazon for $50-60 if I can find a shop that will do the Rx inserts for me.

Two periods in one month

I have PCOS. I usually get my period about once every 8 months. My period finished about 2 weeks ago. This morning I noticed I was bleeding again. Should I be worried? I'm not on any medications and I don't have health insurance so I can't go to the doctor unless it's a serious emergency. I know women with PCOS have irregular periods but mine has always been semi regular, just not every month. This second period this month is much lighter so it could just be spotting, but that's not something I've ever had before so please, someone let me know if you have experience this or if you have any ideas. Thank you!!

Remember Remember the 5th of November

In a world increasingly surveilled. With bills like C-51and the so called anti-terror law passing right here in Canada and NDAA in states. With NSA spying on all of us and collecting out metadata and with almost monthly revelations of what the government doing against its own citizens.

With increasing loss of our right to privacy and free speech.

This seems more relevant every single year.

Crosshairs before trigger? Charting help please.

Hi ladies - I need some charting help.

I'm on my 3rd injects cycle. On Tuesday, I went in for bloods and a scan, and I triggered that night with an 18mm follie, a 16mm follie, and a couple smaller 12ish mm ones (they were worried about those ones getting any bigger). Lining at 12mm and e2 went from 156 on 10/27 to 315 on 10/30 to 1412(!!!!). So all looked good. But, this morning, FF gave me crosshairs on Monday! I know I didn't actually O on Monday. So...how do I tell when/if I O'd this month? I'm feeling cramping/bloated this morning (and even a little bit last night), so right on schedule, but my temp has continually gone up since Monday. (I'll also mention that my husband has been having to go into work at 5am this whole week, so has been waking me up around 4ish, probably screwing with my temp charting a bit. I usually take my temp around 6am when I get up.) Do I just count today as O day anyway? Throw out the chart for this month? Argh! TIA for any advice...

2018 BMW 5 series GT (Bimmer)

Search didn't bring up the regular 5 series thread, just the current gen, so I creat a new one (but mods feel free to merge)

As it seems, the lack of success, general understanding for it's concept or praise in press doesn't mean BMW will give up on this small niche: The 5 series GT will live another generation, and though slightly less awkward looking, it will still not be a beauty:

I wonder if it will keep it's twin door hatch, or if BMW will just give up that concpet like Skoda did in the Superb....

Misdiagnosed for 12 years?? Endocrinologist or OBGYN?

Here's my dx.... PCOS 2003, Hashimoto's 2015, Thyroid issues for the last 10.5 years, Misdiagnosed Graves in 2005, Non-Celiac Gluten Sensitivity, Diverticular Disease, Fibromyalgia 2013

I'm seeing an OBGYN who now says that I'm not a good candidate for PCOS. Both of my ovaries are covered in cysts. My Testosterone and DHEA are through the roof. I can easily grow a mustache and a beard! I have had 4 miscarriages and 6 live births. I have had infertility and treated it with diet, exercise, cinnamon capsules, soy isoflavones and natural progesterone cream.

In my opinion, yes I have PCOS and have had for a long time! But they said my Prolactin, LH, and FSH are in good range, so I don't have it????

Also, my original question.... If I go to an Endo for this, what type of Endo? I see an endo now for my thyroid.

Is this normal?

Hi cysters, this is my first post here. I started Metformin about 2 years ago. The first year was great,I lost 14 pounds and PCOS symptoms improved. Then I got pregnant and had a miscarriage in the first month. After that,I started gaining weight again even though I was not eating more. Now I'm heavier then I was before I got on the Met and very depressed about it. I take 1000mg a day.

Should my doctor be upping my dose? Why am I gaining weight? I do also have a thyroid condition, but that has been tested and all is fine.

Using the Audi A4 (B8) as base, I rendered this modern interpretation of the Borgward Isabella. I read that Borgward Isabella was the brand's last model produced before the manufacturer folded. As for the reason of using the Audi as base, it's because the BX7 SUV concept looks like a ripoff of the Audi Q5.

Gardiner Expressway, eastbound near Parliament

At around 4:00 this afternoon. It appeared that a rider on a new FZ-09 rear-ended another vehicle. The guy was just righting the bike as I drove by. I went to stop and see if I could help, but saw the fire truck coming down towards us already. I know that you're not supposed to stop but I felt terrible for the poor guy. The bike was totaled, with the forks pushed right back into the bike. I was surprised to see him walking around and picking up the bike after what looked like such a violent collision. The car was pretty messed up as well.
Be safe out there.
