PCOS and DHEA

8 years ago my daughter was diagnosed with PCOS at 17 years old based solely on an ultrasound which showed multiple ovarian cysts. She had no weight issues, hair issues and had a normal regular if somewhat heavy crampy period. She was put on Birth Control pill and re-scanned every 12 months - the scans in later years showed reduced and then no cysts and we stopped having them as often. Over the years she has developed adrenal fatigue issues, depression and gained a lot of weight particularly abdominally amongst other health issues. She had a cortisol saliva test this week which was normal for cortisol but her DHEA was 5 x the normal level. She has been advised to stop the pill and have her hormone levels checked but is scared the DHEA will convert to testosterone and trigger off the hair issues or further weight gain. I am questioning if she even had PCOS. What does anyone here know about high DHEA and what would you recommend her next step be? Thanks
